FL – 2023 fuel tax rates announced

The 2023 Florida motor fuel, diesel fuel, and aviation fuel tax rates are announced. Annual adjustments to the state fuel tax rates and the State Comprehensive Enhanced Transportation System (SCETS) tax rate based on the National Consumer Price Index are statutorily required.

2023 Motor Fuel Tax Rate
The 2023 motor fuel tax rate is increased from 19 cents to 20.2 cents per gallon. In addition:

the ninth-cent and local option rates vary by county;

the SCETS rate is increased from 8.3 cents to 8.6 cents per gallon; and

the inspection fee on motor fuel remains 0.125 cents per gallon.

2023 Diesel Fuel Tax Rate
The 2023 diesel fuel tax rate is increased from 19 cents to 20.2 cents per gallon. In addition:

the county tax rate (ninth-cent, SCETS, and local option tax rates) on diesel fuel is increased from 15.3 cents to 15.9 cents per gallon statewide; and

the total state and county rates on diesel fuel are increased from 34.3 cents to 36.1 cents per gallon statewide.

2023 Aviation Fuel Tax Rate
The 2023 aviation fuel tax rate remains the same at 4.27 cents per gallon. Tax Information Publication, No. 22B05-06, Florida Department of Revenue, November 17, 2022
